Today I depart for another day-trip to Austin. This one will involve:
-Rilo Kiley love-fest
-hopefully a Whole Foods/Heaven trip. once i read a live blog of a whole foods trip, which seems like such a fantastic idea for so many reasons.
-having some quality some girl talk, esp. appropriate since i bought teen deodorant last week. i'm such a sucker for anything sparkly.
lately i've enjoyed reading this:

modest goals for summer 2008
1. pass community college (irony!!!)
2. become a moderate-to-good cook (i currently classify myself as "okay", with a few exceptions-pro: veggie lasagna, pear cake. con: the first time i made veggie burgers, circa 2007).
3. don't annoy/become annoyed with pii cordinator jennifer scalora
4. continue my quest of being a well-read individual (temporarily on hiatus after the completion of 2.5 books, a pretty respectable number so far).
5. don't spend all my money on: granola bars, gasoline, and ikea impulse buys (i do NOT need that little tree-shaped jewlery organizer, no matter how precious/inventive it may appear).

the urge to update this beast has been MIA as of late.
today i was watching e! true hollywood story of "keeping up with the kardashians" (double shame, judge away), and at one point, the narrator was divulging the history of the infamous daughters, when he said something to the extent of, "courtney wanted to go to college, but kim and chloe were ready to enter the real world." for some reason, this legitimately infuriated me. i'm sure it was just a simple slip of the writer, who wouldn't intentionally bash the necessity of college, but nonetheless i just grew so disgusted at the American pop culture scene. what has society come to that watching uneducated party girls schmooze their way through life is the entertainment norm? why do i watch (and, gasp, sometimes enjoy???) this utter trash without realizing it? i haven't started pumping my fist, shouting "brainwash!" just yet, but give me time. this land is my land.

not the princess diana version, gross.
yesterday brittany mcfalls and i watched collectively 1 hour of online david sedaris book readings. "jesus shaves" (twice) and "six to eight black men." (both of which i've listened to multiple times before. i have no life.)
here is a Larabar bar i ate earlier in Ginger Snap:

this is america!
reoccuring themes of summer '08 (so far):
1. i don't like to wash my hair
2. food network (+every day italian, - ina garten. don't get me started on rachael ray).
3. instant pudding made with soymilk.
4. acting like/mocking my father
today i went on a few local outings. they involved a trip to 2 thrift stores (catholic church & goodwill), walmart, and the bike platz (i couldn't make that name up if i tried). the church thrift store is new, not quite up to par. i tried on 2 pairs of pants that i LOVED but unfortunately they were too big. goodwill today outstandingly managed to portray a spectrum of society's downfalls. As i entered, a 5-year-old boy who weighed more than me with a rat's tail (!!!!!) zoomed past me on a mini-bicycle (a risk for both me + bicycle). Later, a woman who i could have SWORN was Mrs. Dorfman (circa sophomore year high school speech teacher) held up the check-out line as she chattered incessantly (and incorrectly, might i add) about national security/the war/how she aspired to own her own farm. Small, talk! It's an art, I swear!
i'm not all complainer today, for i found a steal at goodwill: $1.99 (or $2.15 with tax) for a stirdy backpack in chic black. then i dropped $60 on camera film. oy!
i also invested in a solid yoga mat in navy. now, not only will i be bringing my unbeatable tree pose to the table (floor?), i will also have a envy-inspiring mat AND shoulder sling (thanks, walmart!!!)
soon to come, photo posts!
